W&MR's Nos. 11 and 12 were introduced by the company in 1888. Built by Baldwin of the United States, the two locomotives had a 2-8-2 wheel arrangement.
Frederick Carlson has acquired a Frateschi 2-8-2 "Consolidation", based on a 1908 Baldwin model. Because of my stupid idea of modeling W&MR in 1:87 / HOn3.5 scale, I wondered about converting the Frateschi locomotive to 12mm gauge...
Frederick sent me these pictures of the locomotive's undergubbins, so I could figure out if it could be converted to 12mm gauge:
It looks do-able; the tender would be the easiest part as the gearbox is clearly narrow enough (at about 9mm). The problem is with the locomotive itself...
